I. Tasks and Responsibilities
The role is strategically split to ensure the intern gains experience across all facets of a “Cell” (the HQ unit that manages a specific group of countries/missions).
1. Operational Support (40%)
- Coordination: Organizing weekly “Mini Desk” meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Information Management: Acting as the focal point for digital platforms like Kompas and SharePoint.
- Technical Logistics: Supporting the Logistics Referent (RLO) with material tracking and GIS map ordering.
- Financial Admin: Assisting the Finance Referent (FINOP) with Power of Attorney documents and audit management.
- Context Monitoring: Following news updates and situation reports for the countries followed by the cell.
2. HR and Administrative Support (40%)
- Staff Tracking: Updating international staff tables (mission dates and job openings).
- Pre-Departure Prep: Following up on “Proof of Life” and “Informed Consent” documents for departing staff.
- Briefings: Organizing briefing and debriefing sessions between the cell and field workers.
- Recruitment Support: Filing job descriptions and presenting operational news at monthly recruitment meetings.
3. Medico-Operational Dossiers (20%)
- Special Project: Each intern completes a major dossier (report or thesis) during their term.
- Integration: The topic is chosen within the first month to align with both MSF’s operational needs and the intern’s academic requirements (e.g., a Master’s thesis).
